Here are my two photos that I added text to. In one I added a copyright and the other I just added some text stating the obvious.

Here is my before and after picture. The power lines really took away from the picture so I removed them. It worked really well!

Here is a picture of scowling Jason Varitek. Basically I just tried to remove the shadow caused by the light and his helmet. I managed to lighten up the shadow but had a hard time hiding the line from where the transition had been. The tutorial makes it look much easier than it actually is.
