I think this offers up a different type of perspective on things as the pictures are very similar but the conditions under which they were taken completely change how they appear. The first one was a rainy morning which gives the deck an interesting reflective sheen while the second one is just a plain shot of how it normally looks.
I would have to say that I like the added character of the first picture not to mention the fact that you can't tell how bad my deck needs a coating of stain :).

Very interesting idea to take the shots wet and dry. Interesting I love the grain...but I love the reflection in the water of the second one. I am always partial to water, unless there is six inches of it in my basement...
